AI Agents & Chatbots Enterprise Internal IT & Employee Support
GenAI virtual agent for employee IT and HR support with a native Slack app that monitors public channels, now part of Resolve.
Espressive Barista is a GenAI-based virtual support agent that automates the resolution of employee questions, issues and requests across IT, HR, finance and other departments. The design goal was always consumer-grade familiarity applied to the workplace, and the numbers Espressive published for it were among the most aggressive in the category: 80 to 85 percent employee adoption and a 40 to 60 percent reduction in help desk call volume.
Its Slack behaviour is distinctive. Barista installs as a native Slack app and works two ways: employees DM it, or it monitors public channels and either deflects the question or opens a ticket on the employee's behalf. The explicit promise is that help desk agents stop monitoring those channels themselves, which is the same insight behind Moveworks' Channel Resolver and a genuinely different product shape from tools that wait to be asked. Microsoft Teams is supported alongside Slack.
Pat Calhoun founded Espressive in 2016 in Santa Clara, and it raised roughly $53 million, including a $30 million Series B led by Insight Partners with General Catalyst and Wing Venture Capital participating. On September 10, 2025 Resolve announced it had acquired the company, folding Espressive's conversational AI and LLM frameworks into Resolve's agentic automation and orchestration platform behind agents called RITA and Jarvis. Be clear-eyed about what that means: espressive.com now redirects to resolve.io, including the Barista product pages, so this listing points at Resolve's live service desk page. Barista is still named on Resolve's site, but it is being absorbed into that platform rather than sold as a standalone product, and anyone shortlisting it should ask directly about the roadmap.
What you would actually buy today is Resolve's agentic service desk, which claims a 50 percent reduction in ticket volume within six months, more than 70 percent reduction in mean time to resolution, and more than 60 percent improvement in first contact resolution, concentrating on five workflows: password resets, access requests, software licensing, email and collaboration issues, and VPN troubleshooting. Named customers include Cognizant, Deutsche Telekom, Dexcom, Ericsson, Honda, Virgin Media and Tesco. Pricing is not published. Choose it if you want a conversational front end backed by serious IT automation and orchestration rather than a chatbot alone. Skip it if post-acquisition uncertainty is a risk you cannot carry, or if you want a self-serve start.
