Estimates assume 5,000 conversations a month, 60% handled by AI and 10 agent seats, at each vendor's published list price (the cost calculator's model); treat them as a floor, not a quote. Compliance rows are what vendors publicly claim, and “Not verified” means we have not confirmed that fact yet, not that the tool lacks it.
Best for: Support, IT or HR teams that want a mature, configurable help desk from $24 per agent and prefer to add AI copilot, Autopilot agents and a chatbot as separately priced pieces.
Look elsewhere if you want an AI-first platform that resolves most customer conversations autonomously under one price, since HappyFox sells its AI as several add-ons on top of seats.
Best for: Teams already on Zendesk that want autonomous agents drawing on their knowledge base and ticket history across email, chat, messaging and voice, billed per automated resolution at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go, with a 14-day trial, 80 languages, hosting in the US, EEA or Asia Pacific and compliance up to FedRAMP and ISO 42001.
Look elsewhere if you do not run Zendesk, or you want a flat bill: the agents are built into the Zendesk Suite, the fully autonomous Advanced tier is billed per resolution on top of seats, and the Essential tier is far more limited.
HappyFox is a long-running help desk platform that serves customer support, IT, HR and operations teams from the same ticketing core: omnichannel ticket creation, routing, SLA management, a knowledge base and self-service portal, reporting and multi-brand support. Around that core it sells a ring of separately priced products, including a chatbot, an AI Contact Center for voice, Business Intelligence, Workflows, a Service Desk for ITSM and Assist AI for employee support inside Slack and Teams.
The AI arrives in three distinct shapes, and they behave differently. HappyFox AI is the agent copilot: ticket summaries, suggested replies, a writing assistant, AI-suggested resolutions, an urgency queue that groups high-impact tickets, and a knowledge tool that drafts help articles from past tickets. Autopilot is the more interesting piece. It is a library of pre-built AI agents that work inside the help desk rather than talking to customers: a Duplicate Ticket Notifier, a Custom Field Triage agent, a Missing Context Assistant that drafts a request for missing details, a Shopify Return Policy Checker, a Shopify Delivery Dispute Analyser, a Churn Risk Detector and an Expansion Opportunity Detector, with HappyFox building custom agents on request. The customer-facing Chatbot, which HappyFox says deflects up to 70 percent of tickets, is billed separately again.
HappyFox Inc is headquartered in Southlake, Texas, and is led by CEO Shalin Jain. Its own figures disagree with each other: the about page claims more than 12,000 companies in 70+ countries, while the homepage counts 2,200+ organizations and 50,000+ agents. A Forrester Total Economic Impact study commissioned by HappyFox reports a 401 percent ROI over three years. Named customers include Sonny's BBQ, Dartmouth, North Country Healthcare and Improved Racing.
Help Desk pricing is published per agent, billed annually: Basic at $24 (capped at 5 agents), Team at $49, Pro at $99 and an Enterprise Pro tier, with unlimited-agent plans for larger teams and a 14-day trial with no card. Budget past the headline, because the AI is not in it. HappyFox AI starts at $14 per agent per month, Autopilot charges from 2 cents per successful action after $50 of free credits, and the Chatbot is $0.33 per resolution; the AI Contact Center Suite at $99 per agent bundles all AI products. Choose HappyFox if you want a mature, configurable help desk that can also run IT and HR requests, and you like paying for AI only where you switch it on. Skip it if you want an AI-first agent that resolves most conversations on its own, or a single all-inclusive price.

Zendesk AI agents resolve customer requests autonomously across email, chat, messaging, and voice, and they have the advantage of sitting on one of the most widely used support platforms on earth. Because they are built into Zendesk's help desk, the agents draw on your knowledge base and years of past tickets to answer questions instantly, then hand off to a human with full context when a conversation needs one. Zendesk also threads AI through the agent workspace itself with a copilot that suggests replies, detects intent, and summarizes long tickets.
The lineup comes in two flavors. The Essential tier bundles friendly generative answers into the Suite, while the Advanced tier, built on Zendesk's acquisition of Ultimate, goes fully autonomous, working off-script and calling your APIs to actually get things done. In keeping with where the industry is heading, the Advanced agents are billed per resolution, so you pay for issues solved rather than seats filled.
There is a fun irony in Zendesk's origins. The company was founded in 2007 by three friends in a Copenhagen loft who wanted support software that felt human instead of clunky, and its deliberately approachable branding helped it grow into an industry giant, go public, and later get taken private in a deal worth roughly ten billion dollars. More recently it has been on an AI shopping spree, absorbing companies to bolt voice, quality assurance, and deeper automation onto the platform. In March 2026 it completed the acquisition of Forethought, whose self-learning agents it now sells as Forethought AI Agents by Zendesk, pitched for any help desk stack rather than only its own.
Real customers put it to work in colorful ways: cosmetics brand Lush named its Zendesk agent Marvin and uses it to resolve a large share of first contacts. For the enormous number of teams already running support on Zendesk, switching on its native AI agents is often the shortest path of least resistance to real automation, with no new vendor to onboard and no data to migrate.
