Estimates assume 5,000 conversations a month, 60% handled by AI and 10 agent seats, at each vendor's published list price (the cost calculator's model); treat them as a floor, not a quote. Compliance rows are what vendors publicly claim, and “Not verified” means we have not confirmed that fact yet, not that the tool lacks it.

Choose Dixa or Zendesk AI Agents?

Choose Dixa if

Best for: Mid-market European ecommerce brands with meaningful phone volume and seasonal peaks that want native voice, digital channels and the Mim AI agent in one plan, from €89 per agent a month billed annually plus €0.40 per AI conversation.

  • you need deep e-commerce and Shopify support
  • you need SMS and WhatsApp coverage
  • you need a vendor that publicly claims EU AI Act
  • you prefer a flat subscription to usage-based billing

Look elsewhere if you are a small team, want a self-serve trial, or only need email and chat: Dixa is sold through demos, and its higher seat price pays for a contact center you would not use.

Choose Zendesk AI Agents if

Best for: Teams already on Zendesk that want autonomous agents drawing on their knowledge base and ticket history across email, chat, messaging and voice, billed per automated resolution at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go, with a 14-day trial, 80 languages, hosting in the US, EEA or Asia Pacific and compliance up to FedRAMP and ISO 42001.

  • you need enterprise scale, security, and compliance
  • you need a vendor that publicly claims HIPAA, GDPR, and ISO 27001
  • you would rather pay per resolved ticket than per seat

Look elsewhere if you do not run Zendesk, or you want a flat bill: the agents are built into the Zendesk Suite, the fully autonomous Advanced tier is billed per resolution on top of seats, and the Essential tier is far more limited.

About Dixa

Dixa is a customer service platform for mid-market ecommerce and consumer brands that puts phone, email, live chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and SMS into one workspace, with routing, a knowledge base and analytics on top. Its AI agent, Mim, resolves routine inquiries such as refunds, tracking, order changes and FAQs on chat, email and WhatsApp using your knowledge base and live order data, then hands off complex cases with the full context. Mim on Voice, in beta, answers phone calls the same way: it verifies the caller, looks up the real order, makes the change and reads it back, in 16 languages. AI Co-Pilot sits with the human agents to suggest replies, improve drafts, translate on the fly and surface knowledge articles, and Auto-QA scores conversations against your criteria.

Two things set Dixa apart. First, voice is native: IVR, call recording, callbacks and voicemail come in every plan, where most helpdesks bolt on a contact center. Dixa says Gartner named it one of four Digital-First Specialists and the only one cited for advanced native voice. Second, the AI pricing is per conversation, not per resolution: Mim costs a flat €0.40 per conversation whether it resolves the case or hands it to a person, and Dixa argues openly that per-resolution billing passes model improvements to the vendor. Dixa also states that Mim on Voice meets the EU AI Act's Article 50 disclosure and audio watermarking rules and is hosted within the EU.

Dixa was founded in Copenhagen in 2015 and has raised $158 million, including a $105 million Series C led by General Atlantic in 2021. It bought the AI companies Solvemate and Miuros in 2021 and 2022, and Jakob Nederby, a co-founder, is CTO under CEO Christian Lohmann. It reports 850+ brands across 42 countries, among them Rapha, Oliver Bonas, Hobbii, Mejuri and Monica Vinader. The brand tink went from 80 to 90 seasonal Black Friday hires to 10 after switching, and Celebrate Company, which had up to four agents a day tagging and assigning tickets at peak, now needs none. Dixa holds SOC 2 Type II and stores data on AWS in Ireland.

Growth costs €89 per agent a month billed annually (€109 monthly) and already includes the contact center, knowledge base and Mim; Ultimate is €139 and Prime €179. Mim usage is €0.40 per conversation, and Co-Pilot, QA and SSO are add-ons. There is no self-serve trial: every rollout is sales-led with a success manager, and most brands go live in two to four weeks. Choose Dixa if you are a European ecommerce brand with real phone volume and seasonal peaks that wants voice, digital channels and AI in one bill. Skip it if you are a small team, want to try it yourself first, or only support over email and chat, where the higher seat price buys a contact center you will not use.

About Zendesk AI Agents

Zendesk AI agents resolve customer requests autonomously across email, chat, messaging, and voice, and they have the advantage of sitting on one of the most widely used support platforms on earth. Because they are built into Zendesk's help desk, the agents draw on your knowledge base and years of past tickets to answer questions instantly, then hand off to a human with full context when a conversation needs one. Zendesk also threads AI through the agent workspace itself with a copilot that suggests replies, detects intent, and summarizes long tickets.

The lineup comes in two flavors. The Essential tier bundles friendly generative answers into the Suite, while the Advanced tier, built on Zendesk's acquisition of Ultimate, goes fully autonomous, working off-script and calling your APIs to actually get things done. In keeping with where the industry is heading, the Advanced agents are billed per resolution, so you pay for issues solved rather than seats filled.

There is a fun irony in Zendesk's origins. The company was founded in 2007 by three friends in a Copenhagen loft who wanted support software that felt human instead of clunky, and its deliberately approachable branding helped it grow into an industry giant, go public, and later get taken private in a deal worth roughly ten billion dollars. More recently it has been on an AI shopping spree, absorbing companies to bolt voice, quality assurance, and deeper automation onto the platform. In March 2026 it completed the acquisition of Forethought, whose self-learning agents it now sells as Forethought AI Agents by Zendesk, pitched for any help desk stack rather than only its own.

Real customers put it to work in colorful ways: cosmetics brand Lush named its Zendesk agent Marvin and uses it to resolve a large share of first contacts. For the enormous number of teams already running support on Zendesk, switching on its native AI agents is often the shortest path of least resistance to real automation, with no new vendor to onboard and no data to migrate.
