Estimates assume 5,000 conversations a month, 60% handled by AI and 10 agent seats, at each vendor's published list price (the cost calculator's model); treat them as a floor, not a quote. Compliance rows are what vendors publicly claim, and “Not verified” means we have not confirmed that fact yet, not that the tool lacks it.

Choose Genesys Cloud CX or Webex Contact Center?

Choose Genesys Cloud CX if

Best for: Large support operations that want one platform for voice, chat, email, WhatsApp and social with Agent Copilot, agentic virtual agents and workforce engagement, published seat pricing from $75, the broadest residency list in the directory and compliance up to FedRAMP.

  • you want a longer, proven track record

Look elsewhere if you are a small team or want to avoid a long contract: Genesys requires an annual commitment, the entry price is per user per month, and the AI capabilities are add-ons to a contact-center suite you must adopt wholesale.

Choose Webex Contact Center if

Best for: Enterprises already on Cisco calling or Webex that want cloud and on-premises contact centers from one vendor, with LLM or scripted AI agents across voice and six digital channels.

  • you need agent-assist copilots for human reps
  • you need autonomous AI agents
  • you need SMS coverage

Look elsewhere if you want published per-seat pricing and self-serve signup, or you are a small team that needs a helpdesk-first tool rather than an enterprise contact center.

About Genesys Cloud CX

Genesys Cloud CX is a cloud contact center platform that runs the whole support operation in one place: inbound and outbound voice, chat, email, SMS and social messaging, skills-based routing, IVR, workforce engagement management, and analytics. Its AI layer, Genesys Cloud AI, spans Agent Copilot for real-time agent assistance, Virtual Agent for voice and digital self-service, and AI Studio for building and governing agentic AI. In September 2025 Genesys shipped semi-autonomous Copilots and Virtual Agents with native A2A and MCP interoperability, and in February 2026 it announced an Agentic Virtual Agent built on large action models for end-to-end resolution.

The company has one of the longest stories in the business. Gregory Shenkman and Alec Miloslavsky founded Genesys in 1990 on $150,000 in family loans, took it public in 1997, and sold to Alcatel in 1999 for $1.5 billion. Permira and TCV carved it back out of Alcatel-Lucent in 2012, Hellman & Friedman invested in 2016, and that December's Interactive Intelligence acquisition brought the technology behind Genesys Cloud. A December 2021 round led by Salesforce Ventures, with ServiceNow Ventures and Zoom participating, valued it at $21 billion, and it confidentially filed for an IPO in October 2024. Customers include Virgin Atlantic, Visa, HSBC, and Yale New Haven Health.

Pricing is unusually public for the enterprise tier. Genesys Cloud CX 1 starts at $75 per user per month billed annually, CX 2 at $115, CX 3 at $155, and the AI-heavy CX 4 at $240, with digital-only, concurrent, and hourly options available. AI is metered separately through AI Experience tokens: every package includes a monthly allowance, Agent Copilot comes bundled in CX 4, and usage beyond the allowance is pay-per-use, so real AI costs depend on volume.

Choose Genesys if you run a serious contact center: hundreds of agents, heavy voice traffic, compliance needs, and AI woven into routing and workforce management. Small teams wanting a shared inbox and a chatbot will find simpler helpdesk tools faster to deploy.

About Webex Contact Center

Webex Contact Center is Cisco's cloud contact center, and Webex AI Agent is the self-service layer that has become the headline. AI Agent went generally available on 31 March 2025 and can be built two ways: autonomous agents that use LLMs for open-ended conversations, or scripted agents with pre-configured responses for sensitive flows. It runs across voice, SMS, email, live chat, Facebook Messenger, Apple Messages for Business and WhatsApp, converses in more than 10 languages, and hands off to human agents with the full context. AI Agent Studio is where teams design agents, and AI Agent 360 tests them before launch with simulated conversations, automatic scoring and red-team testing, then monitors them in production. On the human side, Cisco AI Assistant for Webex Contact Center adds suggested responses, live transcription, wrap-up and transfer summaries, topic analysis, CSAT scores generated for every voice interaction, and burnout detection that can reroute calls or schedule a break.

What sets Webex apart is Cisco's security and network stack and its openness to other vendors' agents. Cisco AI Defense applies guardrails to agents, Splunk feeds AI Agent 360's observability, and the Bring-Your-Own-Virtual-Agent program connects third-party bots, with Google's Gemini Enterprise for CX and NVIDIA Nemotron voice agents among announced additions. Cisco is also pushing AI Agent into its on-premises Contact Center Enterprise product. Be aware that the roadmap moves fast and announcements outrun shipping: at WebexOne 2026 Cisco previewed Dialog, an agentic harness for long-running customer journeys, with beta not expected until early 2027.

Webex is a Cisco business, and Cisco is listed on NASDAQ. The most concrete published result is Community Health Network in Indiana, which integrated Webex AI Agent with its Epic EHR and now contains 40 percent of appointment-related calls with AI, with 95 percent patient-matching accuracy and 15 percent lower agent attrition.

Cisco publishes no Contact Center or AI Agent prices; everything goes through sales or partners, and third-party price estimates vary widely. Choose Webex Contact Center if you are an enterprise already invested in Cisco calling or Webex, or if you need on-premises and cloud contact centers under one vendor with strong security tooling around AI agents. Skip it if you want transparent per-seat pricing, a quick self-serve start, or a lightweight helpdesk-first tool for a small support team.
